A bit of history : guard of this parish and this vineyard, Saint-Genès was in Rome Antique actor of profession. He poked fun at the Christians while on stage during live performances. One day, touched by the grace, he decided to become catholic and at the end of a show he publically announced his new faith. Emperor Diocletien ordered him to retract, but he refused and was tortured and killed in Rome in 303.
Localisation : Château Saint-Genès stands on the line of hillsides which goes from Saint-Emilion to Castillon, by Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, and Saint-Magne. Only 500 meters away from Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, part of the jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion and near the ruins of the old fortified town of Magelin (15th century) in Montagne-Saint-Emilion.
Character of the wine : power and distinction, the typical duality of the wines of the Coasts of Castillon are found in this soil.
